I've been making these pirate swords for the kids for over two years now and they never grow tired of them. It was only a couple of months ago that I figured out how to make the twirly eight pointed bandanna skirts though. Being a hand sewer, I'm always looking for ways to avoid hemming garments, and this method is a big time saver in that department! Turns out the skirts and swords go together very well for some low budget and very cute pirate girl fun.

ReplyDeleteThe swords are little bit of genius! The kids at our school make their own rules and always wind up banning weapons (real and pretend). I wonder if we can make these an exception?????

our swords were for being MUSKETEERS!! so there is no end to reasons for using a sword!! My girls watched barbie three musketeers... so I'm thinking of finding another version for them to see

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I live in India and a lot of the fun stuff kids take for granted aren't readily available here. So your blog was a lifesaver. I had a pirate party for my son's 6th and made 40 swords and hats, etc. Your idea was fantastic, a lot of fun. I loved that the older kids who came had as much fun as the younger ones - super successful!
